Fred Hutton
Fred Hutton
is the co-host of the NTV Evening News , host of NTV Newsday and as well
is seen on NTV's "On the Record" He is a native of St. John's
and has been actively involved in the broadcast industry for a decade. Fred
attended Memorial University and while studying political science became
involved in the campus radio station CHMR. Because of his interest in broadcasting
he transferred to Vancouver , British Columbia and graduated through BCIT's
Broadcast Communication Program. Fred joined the NTV News Team back in January
of 1990. He spent the first two years with NTV refining his journalistic
skills. Since 1992 Fred has been co-hosting the NTV Evening News. Those
duties however still allow him time to continue his work "in the field".
In recent years he has produced a number of special series that have been
critically acclaimed. His most recent work was a series on the business
of smuggling and contraband and what it means to the province. That series
saw Fred Hutton and his camera crew traveling with a special team of RCMP
and Customs and Excise officers on a co-ordinated anti-smuggling operation
on the south coast of Newfoundland.
