Jim Furlong
The NTV News Team operates
under the direction of one of Newfoundland's most prominent broadcast journalists.
Jim Furlong is the Director of News and Current Affairs. The shape , content
and direction of the news at NTV is his responsibility. It is a responsibility
he takes very seriously putting in long hours in the persuit of excellence
.
In addition to that Jim is well known for his regular on -air contributions
to the Evening News. His series "Reflections" seen on a weekly
basis has been critically acclaimed and recognized ny the Radio Television
News Directors Association. He is also the producer of many documentaries
one of which dealing with the Come by Chance Oil Refinery , was awarded
the prestigious Dan McArthur Award for news excellence.
Jim Furlong may be best recognized however for something that began as a
hobby. For some years now "A Little Good News " has been playing
well to a provincial audience. For those who may not be familiar with it
"A Little Good News" is a whimsical walk through the archives
of NTV . Jim says the production of the program is a nice counterbalance
to his daily work in the newsroom .
